Gainesville Man Arrested for Domestic Battery and Obstruction

Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Jose Ronway Lopez, 21, Sunday and charged him with domestic battery and obstruction. 

According to the arrest report, Lopez and the victim got into an argument over text messages he received from another woman. Lopez reportedly pushed the victim against a bedframe and choked her. 

When the victim tried to call the police, Lopez reportedly took the phone away.

The victim had visible bruises, but Lopez denied the altercation getting physical when questioned by police and said she sustained the injuries at work. 

Lopez is being held in the Alachua County Jail on a $10,000 bond
