A High Springs City Commission candidate made a Facebook post comparing No Kings 2 protesters to hyenas from the movie “The Lion King.”

Facebook post by Tapia-Ruano

“Just a little public service announcement,” said commission seat 3 candidate Julie Tapia-Ruano.  “There were some folks exercising their right to free speech out near City Hall today. Funny how the last time I heard hyenas chanting ‘no king no king la lalalalala’ it was in a pretty cool movie where the antagonist shot back ‘IDIOTS! I will be King..be prepared, our teeth and ambitions are bared’ Look what happened in that story. (footnote- most were imported as I had to give several of them directions to City Hall).”

Tapia-Ruano made the post, which has since been deleted, following the High Springs No Kings 2 protest.

GnvInfo reached out to Tapia-Ruano to ask why she deleted the post but she did not open the message.

The post has been redistributed on social media forums like the Alachua/High Springs Facebook Word of Mouth group and the Alachua County Reddit page.

The same account Tapia-Ruano used to make the Facebook post, she is also using to promote her campaign.
