Man Absconds from Domestic Violence Prosecution in Alachua County, Remains at Large Over Year Later
Jesse Waylon Fulks (ACSO Jail)

It has been over a year since Jesse Waylon Fulks, 37, did not appear at a pretrial conference for his domestic violence case. He still remains at large over a year later.

On January 10, 2025, Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Fulks and charged him with misdemeanor domestic battery.

According to the arrest report, "[Fulks], while in the middle of a verbal argument with the victim over alcohol consumption, approached the victim and actually and intentionally hit her hand against her will, knocking a coffee cup that [she] was holding. [Fulks] then got as close as he could to the victim's face, bumped his chest into [her] chest, and spat on her face. The incident was captured on video by the victim's son who provided the recording to law enforcement."

Following this incident, Fulks was battered by a young adult male who was also at the residence. Fulks told police he wanted to press charges. The young man told police his actions were defensive and in defense of his family.

Officers found 1.4-1.7 grams of cannabis on Fulks' person but he was not charged with marijuana possession due to it being a "small amount," Deputy Jose Gonzalez reported.

Fulks reportedly "admitted to hitting the victim's hand and pushing her back with his chest," telling police he "only knocked the tea out of her hand."

Judge Craig DeThomasis ordered Fulks released on recognizance under the condition that he not contact the victim and appear in court when required.

On January 18, 2025, a River Oaks Treatment Center case manager told the court that Fulks was admitted. The facility treats mental health and substance abuse.

On February 12, 2025, prosecutors formally charged Fulks with misdemeanor domestic battery.

Fulks waived his presence at most of his hearings, but he was seemingly required to appear at a pretrial conference on June 17, 2025. When he did not show up, Judge Meshon Rawls issued a warrant and set the bond at $2,000, court records show.

To date, proceedings in the case have not continued, court records show.

Fulks' registered address is in Williston, but his current whereabouts are unconfirmed.
