Man Convicted of Firing Airsoft Gun at Homeless Person, Sentenced to Three Months in Jail
Warren Scott Hanna

Warren Scott Hanna, 59, was convicted of two counts of aggravated assault Wednesday and sentenced to three months in jail followed by three years of probation.

Facing up to 1 ½ years in prison, Hanna took a plea deal that was accepted by Judge Denise Ferrero.

Hanna will be released in roughly one month due to getting credit for time he already served in jail.

According to the arrest report, Hanna was at Millhopper Plaza when he verbally attacked a man for being homeless. The victim argued back, and Hanna walked over to his vehicle and retrieved an airsoft gun. He then pointed the gun at the victim, which had the appearance of a real firearm, and fired eight shots. Hanna did not hit the victim.

The victim went to take a picture of Hanna’s license plate, and when he did, Hanna backed up his vehicle rapidly in the victim’s direction, leading to his second aggravated assault charge. The victim had to jump out of the way to avoid being struck by Hanna, the arrest report states.

Two witnesses told police they saw Hanna shooting at the victim. Additionally, he was caught in the act on surveillance cameras from a nearby business.

Hanna told police he “maybe” got into an argument with a “homeless motherfucker.”

Hanna’s probation requires him to not own any firearms and avoid contact with the victim.
