Man Sentenced to 18 Months Probation for Domestic Violence

Rashad Dontae Rosemond, 36, was sentenced to 18 months of probation earlier this month after being granted a withheld adjudication for domestic battery by strangulation. This means he was not convicted, but the offense will remain on his record.
Judge James Colaw accepted a plea deal from Rosemond, who faced up to five years in prison.
According to the police report, Rosemond got mad at the victim because she showed their dog more attention than him. Rosemond reportedly grabbed a pair of scissors and started cutting their mattress in anger.
The victim began recording Rosemond cutting the mattress on her phone, and he demanded she give him the device. Rosemond threw the victim onto the bed and took her phone before looking through her messages.

Rosemond reportedly choked the victim and attempted to punch her before leaving the residence.
Police observed visible injuries on the victim.
On his way out, Rosemond stepped on the victims' glasses, the police report states. In response, the victim reportedly chased after Rosemond and threw an air fryer at him but missed.
As part of his probation, Rosemond is required to take a parenting course.
