Man who Previously Recorded UF Student Urinating Now Faces Federal CSAM Charges
Bryan James Shuping (ACSO Jail)

A man previously convicted of video voyeurism for recording a University of Florida (UF) student while he urinated is now under a federal indictment for possessing and producing child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

In March 2024, UF Police Department officers arrested Bryan James Shuping, 55, after a student said Shuping filmed him from a stall when he was using a urinal. Officers found the video on Shuping’s phone.

Shuping was later sentenced to three months in jail and three years of probation in a plea deal.

In September 2025, Shuping was arrested on local CSAM charges.

On May 24, 2026, federal prosecutors secured an indictment against Shuping. The indictment indicates that Shuping didn’t just possess CSAM, but also solicited CSAM from one or more children. His local charges have been dropped.

Shuping is scheduled to go to trial on July 22, 2026. He is currently in federal custody.

Shuping faces 13 counts of producing CSAM and one count of possessing CSAM. If found guilty, Shuping could be sentenced to decades in federal prison.

The case has been assigned to Chief District Judge Allen Winsor
