“Miami” Arrested on Warrant for Selling Teen Firearm
Darryl Latson's Arrest Warrant (Alachua County Court Records)

Police arrested Darryl Dwayne Latson Jr., 26, Tuesday on a warrant for one count of transferring a firearm to a minor.

Based on the sworn complaint, the State of Florida is legally considered the victim in the case, while the 17-year-old who he sold the gun to is considered a witness.

The witness reportedly knew Latson for six months and stated he also went by the name “Miami.”

The sworn complaint states Latson sold a Glock along with a small amount of cannabis for $600 to the witness and his underaged friend.

According to the sworn complaint, the witness stated he bought cannabis from Latson six to seven times since moving to Gainesville, while his friend previously purchased guns from Latson.

The witness stated Latson was aware of his age because of an incident where they were in the car together during a traffic stop.

When his warrant was issued, Latson's bond was set at $15,000 by Judge James Colaw.

After his arrest, Latson was released on recognizance under the orders of Judge Meshon Rawls, who placed pretrial release conditions on him to not contact the witness and to refrain from possessing firearms.
