Police and Ambulance Response Called After Elderly Man Crashes Car in Downtown Gainesville
On Saturday, May 27, at 5:50 pm, an elderly man driving a grey Mercedes-Benz CLK crashed into a curb between Northeast 2nd Avenue and North Main Street. The car took extensive damage to the front end, with the driver's side headlight being completely destroyed. The man was conscious and breathing, however, he sustained injuries from the accident, as he needed to be taken out of the car by paramedics and loaded onto a stretcher. Police audio also mentions he was bleeding. The man was wearing a cervical collar showing he may have suffered from a head or spinal injury.
