During the early morning hours of Friday, May 2, 2025, DS M. Wilson responded to the Circle K gas station at 4030 SW 13th St in reference to an assault/battery call.
It was learned the suspect, 33-year-old Jerrell Johnson, became upset after a disagreement with the victim and damaged the store's computer monitors. Johnson then flipped the victim out of their chair, causing the victim to fall to the floor.
A second physical altercation took place between the victim and Johnson, where Johnson struck the victim multiple times, threw them against a hard object, and damaged more store property. The victim was able to escape to a back room and close the door. Johnson left the location on foot.
The victim had to receive medical treatment due to their injuries.
Deputies were able to view surveillance video of the incidents and get in contact with Johnson to interview him.
Post Miranda, Johnson was arrested and charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm or disability and criminal mischief.
