Press Release from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office:
During the late evening hours of Tuesday, May 20th DS M. Stripling responded to Bishop Drive in Gainesville in reference to a battery that occurred.
When DS Stripling arrived, he made contact with the victim, who stated they got into a verbal dispute with 40-year-old Mitchell George. The verbal altercation escalated and turned physical when George punched the victim in the face multiple times and also choked them, impeding the victim's ability to breathe.
Witnessed marks and injuries sustained by the victim corroborated their statement.
George was arrested and charged with Battery, and Battery by Strangulation.
