Press Release: NOBLE Expresses Concern Over Gainesville Police Investigation, Calls for Transparency and Leadership
Press Release by The National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE):
Alexandria, Va. – NOBLE is deeply concerned by the circumstances surrounding the internal investigation of Captain Victoria Young, President of the Gainesville-based Atkins Warren Chapter of NOBLE. Questions have been raised about the fairness of the process and whether Captain Young is being unfairly singled out.
NOBLE’s National President, Reneé Hall, along with the National Executive Board, is closely monitoring the situation and is concerned by the lack of a clear and visible response from Gainesville’s leadership. President Hall along with Region III Vice President, Robert Ford will travel to Gainesville to meet with city officials, community leaders, and stakeholders to encourage a fair and impartial process that strengthens, rather than diminishes, community trust.
“Investigations must always be conducted with the highest standards of integrity and fairness,” said President Hall. “When questions of bias or inequity arise, it is the responsibility of leadership to respond with transparency and accountability. Silence in these moments risks eroding the very trust law enforcement works hard to build.”
NOBLE urges Gainesville’s leaders to engage openly to address concerns of fairness and equity.
