Teenager Gets 20 Years in Prison for Homicide After Pleading to Lesser Included Offense
15-year-old Ke’Mani Hill was scheduled to take her murder case to jury selection yesterday, but instead she pleaded no contest to manslaughter with a firearm, a lesser included offense. Taking a plea deal, Hill was convicted and sentenced to 20-years in prison. Her prison sentence will be followed by ten years of probation.
The plea agreement was negotiated between prosecutors and Hill’s defense, and accepted by Judge Denise Ferrero.
The pretrial detention hearing transcript indicates that the victim, Wilber Alberto Perez, had his heart punctured by the bullet and he bled out internally.
Hill was also convicted of possession of a firearm by a minor under 16, conspiracy to commit robbery with a firearm, robbery with a firearm, and shooting into a dwelling, building or vessel.

At the time of the homicide, Hill was on an ankle monitor relating to a juvenile court case for criminal mischief against her mom, the pretrial detention hearing transcript shows.
The plea deal petition shows that Hill, whose case has been open for nearly two years, has been taking Abilify within the past month leading up to her taking the plea deal. Abilify is a treatment that can be prescribed for a number mental health conditions including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, tourettes, and autism.
More information on Hill’s case can be found in the pretrial detention hearing transcript and article below. Some information in the article has since become outdated as it pertains to the scheduled jury trial that Hill didn’t go through with.
