Gainesville Man Arrested for Hitting Woman’s Head Against Window Frame
Joshua Lee Elam (ACSO Jail)

Thursday evening, police arrested Joshua Lee Elam, 46, on a warrant for felony (domestic) battery by a repeat offender.

Gainesville police charged Elam last Saturday, with the incident occurring the day prior.

Elam has a prior conviction for aggravated battery dating back to 2009, but under the law he can still qualify as a repeat offender.

According to the police report, Elam and the victim got into an argument because she wouldn’t provide him with transportation to another location. The victim told police that Elam grabbed her head and twice struck her head against a window frame.

Police described the victim as having a deep laceration to her forehead that contained a significant skin break and was consistent with blunt-force trauma.

Elam has served three prior prison sentences in Florida and he was most recently released in August 2023.

The Alachua County Jail is holding Elam on a $100,000 bond set by Judge Meshon Rawls.
