Waldo Man to be Tried for Capital Child Sexual Abuse
Jeffrey Lamar Becker, 40, will be tried later this week for child sexual abuse. Court records indicate the jury has been seated.
Prosecutors will show the jury evidence they’ve determined proves that Becker is guilty of four capital felony counts of sexual battery against a child, two life felony counts of child molestation, and a second degree felony count of digital voyeurism.
If found guilty, Becker would not face capital punishment (the death penalty) because prosecutors did not file a notice of intent to seek a death sentence.
Becker has another open case against a different victim for five life felony counts of child molestation. In a ruling regarding evidence that can be used at trial, Judge Susanne Wilson Bullard granted prosecutors’ request to introduce evidence from this case into the trial case.
Bullard’s order also pertained to statements the victim made to investigators and an outcry witness, which she ruled are admissible, reliable and can be used at trial. Bullard’s ruling cites evidence that the victim is truthful in their statements.
