Man Arrested For Battering Roommate
Randy Davis, 64, was arrested on Thursday and charged with misdemeanor battery.
The arrest report states Davis and his roommate were arguing in the parking lot of their shared apartment complex when Davis threw a beer can at her, prompting her to yell at him.
The victim told police that Davis got in her face and became belligerent, taunting her by acting like he was about to hit her with his elbow.
The victim described that when Davis got within an inch of her she shoved him to get him away from her. Davis then punched the victim, knocking her to the ground.
A witness told police he saw Davis throw the beer can at the victim but didn't see anything physical. He said he turned around to go back inside his residence and when he turned around he saw the victim laying on the ground, seemingly unconscious.
Another witness said they didn’t see the altercation but did hear the victim yelling about being punched.
Davis told police he threw the beer can to the side and that the victim yelled at him and punched him. Davis said he punched the victim because she hit him.
Gainesville Police Department (GPD) Officer Taryn Roberts reported that the victim had injuries while Davis had no injuries.
Davis' bond is set at $5,000.
